Story
On 12th April, I’ll be taking on the London Landmarks Half Marathon wearing a Shelter vest — running not just for the finish line, but for a cause that really shouldn’t exist in 2026.
Right now, around 1 in 150 people in the UK are recorded homeless, one of the highest levels in Europe. And over 200,000 people are “hidden homeless”, sofa-surfing or sleeping in sheds, garages, and cars.
For me, homelessness is one of those problems we can solve. It's a question of fixing the housing system and prioritising resources with enough empathy and political will.
This is my third attempt at training for a half marathon (the previous two didn’t quite go to plan thanks to injuries!). This time, my goal is simple: get round the course, stay injury-free, take in the views; and most importantly: raise awareness and funds for Shelter, who are doing incredible work tackling a complex issue that no one should have to face.
If you’re able to donate, I’d really appreciate it. Every contribution helps give a woman, a man, a child or a family a better chance at something we all deserve: a safe place to call home.
