Story
Oasis helps asylum seekers and refugees integrate into Welsh society successfully.
The people I meet at Oasis have unbelievable courage to flee terrible situations, risk dangerous travel, and arrive in Wales. They can be met with some cruel stereotyping and rhetoric in the news (ie-"stop the boats"), really confusing bureacratic hoops to jump through, and then be given far too little help to build a new and safe life here.
Oasis delivers a holistic range of services, including a safe place to come for help, English classes, Integration casework and advice, mental health services, essential items distribution, warm meals every weekday, countless cultural and educational events, political advocacy and social promotion of the amazing contributions refugees make to Welsh society, and a lot more.
Oasis may help thousands of people each year but I believe we really treat each person as their own unique person, deserving to be seen and heard and helped to build the life that they want here.
I would welcome a donation because Oasis is really well run and will use the money to maximise our partnership with each unique asylum seeker and refugee as they rebuild their lives.
