Story
As part of the University of Manchester's commitment to providing meaningful volunteering opportunities and promoting social responsibility overseas, Team Rwanda is an international volunteering project exclusively for university students. This summer, along with thirteen other UOM students, I will be volunteering on Team Rwanda for four weeks.
Azizi Life is a social enterprise based in Rwanda. Azizi Life runs a number of community projects, including supporting local artisans in building more sustainable practices and reaching wider markets, as well as distributing water filters in the local community.
In 2026, Azizi Life are embarking on a Home Building project! Through the Home Building project, Azizi Life are giving families the security, comfort, and dignity of having a home of their own.
This year, Azizi Life are building their first home, with space to eventually construct 12 homes over the next five years. Your donations will help to fund this project.
On Friday 3rd July, I'm walking 20 miles from Kenilworth Road to Vicarage Road. Or in simple terms, from Luton Town FC to Watford FC. Two football clubs that have absolutely nothing in common except a long-standing dislike of each other.
For anyone unfamiliar with the rivalry, just know that Watford fans don't visit Luton voluntarily while Luton fans don't visit Watford voluntarily. Yet here I am, doing this on foot, in one go, with seven to eight hours of walking.
All of this is to raise money for Azizi Life's Home Building project.
So, if you've ever fancied watching a Watford fan walk twenty miles from Luton, or if you just want to support a good cause, your sponsorship would mean the world.
Thank you in advance.
