Fairlight Village Hall is the hub of the village, serving both local residents and the broader area. It was first opened in 1949 and over the years has undergone improvements, modifications and enlargement. Currently there are two main halls within the building of different sizes, a small meeting room and a committee room (which also functions as a green room for 'AmDram' and pantomime productions).

Over 20 local clubs and groups use the hall on a regular basis, but it's also used as a polling station, for prescription distribution, for hearing aid battery replacement amongst other functions.

Renovations have been undertaken as required but now the roof is in a state where it is no longer feasible or economically viable to keep simply patching it up. A full replacement is required, and the hall committee has engaged a professional consultancy to oversee the project from start to finish.

Anyone that has used or visited the hall recognises it as an essential local asset, and one that should be looked after.

An initial estimate suggests that replacement will cost in excess of £50,000. The hall has a modest reserve fund, but this is insufficient to cover the full cost so external sources will be approached (these include organisations that provide grants and donations to similar community-based projects).

In addition to this, we're asking anyone to tap into their generosity and donate whatever they can spare.
