Story

Swansea Half Marathon 2026 – my first one!

On 7 June 2026, I’ll be running the Swansea Half Marathon for the first time as part of "Team Swansea University", fundraising for Making Strides for Mental Health.

A bit about me: I’m a big football fan, but I only started focusing on running anything longer than 5K about a year and a half ago — so I’m definitely not an elite runner. On top of that, I was diagnosed with cervical spinal stenosis last year, which means my agility is a bit restricted. This half marathon will be a real challenge, but one I’m determined to take on.

Why Making Strides for Mental Health?

On a personal level, I know how difficult it can be to struggle with mental wellbeing. I’ve been incredibly fortunate — the support of my loved ones, friends, and colleagues helped me through a very tough period recently.

At Swansea University, we’re making real strides towards better wellbeing, and we believe no one facing mental health challenges should feel alone. Funds raised through Making Strides have supported suicide prevention for future generations, helped build a more resilient NHS workforce, and funded exercise on referral schemes for students who are feeling the strain.

If you’d like to support this cause, I’d be hugely grateful if you could generously make a donation. I’ll be training hard — and I’ll see you cheering along the course 😊

Thank you for reading and for any support.
