Our Story

On August 10th, we are taking on a 26 mile trek through the Peak District to raise as much money as we can for Alzheimer's Society. We are raising this money to help others who are dealing with Dementia.

We are taking on this challenge in memory of our beloved Elsie 'Lou' Pathak who was sadly diagnosed with Dementia in 2020 and passed away in 2023.

She was the most amazing woman who we all miss dearly. If you knew her, you loved her!

Each donation will be massively appreciated and every penny counts!

Thank you :)

£1200 can:

• Pay for 7.5 Singing for the Brain sessions - these are sessions were people living with dementia come together as a group to sing, chat and enjoy all of the rich benefits that come from these interactions.

• Cover the costs of 22 Safeguarding cases - Alzheimer's Society has a dedicated Safeguarding team

• Pay for 81 hours of a Dementia Advisor's time. Dementia Advisors are lifelines to people living with dementia and their families.

• Provide 1034 people recently diagnosed with dementia with our flagship publication, The Dementia Guide. The Dementia Guide is our most popular publication and our supporters enable us to provide it free of charge to thousands of newly diagnosed people every year.

• It can pay for 33x 500ml bottles of cell food - growing brain cells in the lab is an essential if researchers are to be able to study what causes the diseases that cause dementia and discover brand new potential treatments. To keep cells alive and healthy, they need to be grown in a cell food liquid called media, which gives the brain cells everything they need to stay alive.

About Alzheimer's Society

Alzheimer’s Society is working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. By giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future.

Dementia is the biggest health and social challenge of our time. There are currently estimated to be 900,000 people in the UK with dementia. Many are undiagnosed and facing the realities of their condition alone.

With your help we can help give vital support to those who need it most, hold decision-makers to account, and fund groundbreaking research to transform the future for everyone living with dementia.
