Yorkshire Children's Charity - Yorkshire Challenge

Danielle Bushby is raising money for Yorkshire Children's Charity

Challenge Yorkshire · 6 July 2025

We transform childhoods to make things better for the thousands of disadvantaged children in our region. We want to make sure no child or young person is left behind due to ill health, disability, or financial circumstance. We help children be who they want to be and get where they want to go.

Story

Here at the Farrier, we believe it’s important to do our bit to support charities that work hard to support people in their time of need, and we believe our customers do too.

There are loads of very worthy and great causes to support and to make sure we can make as big a difference as possible The Farrier choses a charity to support each year. This year, the Charity we have chosen to support is the Yorkshire Children’s Charity (https://yorkshirechildrenscharity.org/).

On the 6th of July Dani (owner here at The Farrier), and Dani’s friends, Debbie, Sally, Sam, and Chloe will be taking on 'Challenge Yorkshire' to help raise vital funds for the Yorkshire Children's Charity. The charity have set an ambitious fundraising goal of £20,000 from the day, and we’d like to do everything we can to help them get there.

Challenge Yorkshire is a gruelling 4-hour test of endurance and tactics...so it's going to be tough! Think HYROX for those who are aware of it, but MUCH longer!...

The money raised from 'Challenge Yorkshire' will go towards their 'Winter Support Campaign' which focuses on providing children living in destitution with the essential winter items they need (coats, shoes and bedding) to arrive at school warm, dry, and crucially, ready to learn. Something we believe all children should be able to take for granted. As a result of this campaign last year, 80% of the schools supported saw an increase in pupil attendance...simply because children have shoes on their feet.

Yorkshire Children's Charity launched just over 3 years ago, with one sole purpose: to improve the lives of children and young people living at a disadvantage across the region, be that due to sickness, disability or financial circumstance. Since its inception, they have raised over £7m and supported more than 50,000 children across 200 schools.

The Charity receive no government funding, meaning they rely heavily on fundraising and challenge events like this to be able to help as many children as they can.

We realise times are difficult for lots of people now, and we truly appreciate anything you feel able to donate in support of the work this brilliant Charity does, we promise to work as hard as possible to nail this challenge for you! Thank you so much x
