Story

Why I'm Walking 150km for Macmillan Cancer Support

There are almost 3.5 million people living with cancer in the UK, and by 2030 this figure will rise to 4 million. Macmillan Cancer Support That's an extraordinary number of people who need support and that's exactly what Macmillan does.

Macmillan is 98% funded by voluntary donations Macmillan Cancer SupportMacmillan Cancer Support, which means every pound raised goes towards making a real difference. Their Macmillan nurses, support workers and palliative care nurses reached approximately 730,000 people in 2023 Macmillan Cancer Support, providing expert care throughout diagnosis, treatment, and beyond.

But it's not just medical support. Macmillan helped identify £451 million in financial gains for people with cancer in 2023 Macmillan Cancer Support, ensuring people get the benefits they're entitled to when money worries are the last thing they need. They run a free Support Line seven days a week, offer one-to-one support through their Macmillan Buddies service, and provide expert information that people can actually trust when they're overwhelmed and frightened.

That's why I'm taking on two gruelling challenges: a 50km walk followed by a 100km ultra-distance trek. When my legs are protesting and the finish line feels impossibly far away, I'll remember why every step matters.

One in two of us will face cancer in our lifetime. Macmillan can only be there for everyone who needs them with our support.

Please donate whatever you can. Every contribution helps Macmillan continue their vital work.

Thank you for walking this journey with me.
