BWCR is run entirely by volunteers. We foster the cats in our own homes and vaccinate, neuter and microchip each one as well as providing any veterinary treatment needed. We are non-destruction and will help any cat regardless of age, health or temperament.

Story

Fundraising for Bristol & Wales Cat Rescue

This July, I’ll be attempting to cycle 1,400 miles—all the way from Lithuania to England—to raise money for a small but absolutely incredible charity that means the world to me: Bristol & Wales Cat Rescue (BWCR).

Why BWCR you ask?

We’ve fostered two cats through BWCR. First came Patch, a lovely furball who eventually found his forever home. Then came Mush—and that’s where things got even more personal.

Mush was found starving in someone’s garden in Wales, rummaging through a Doritos bag just trying to survive. When he was rescued, the vet found he had ear cancer. The tips of his ears had to be removed, and shortly after his operation, we were lucky enough to foster him.

We were told his stitches would dissolve on their own—but they didn’t. Weeks went by, and his ears got worse, looking sore and even infected. Eventually, we learned the stitches weren’t dissolvable at all—they were growing into his skin. For weeks, we took him to the vet twice a week to have the stitches painfully removed, bit by bit.

But BWCR covered every single cost—from treatment to microchipping, vaccinations, food, litter, toys, everything. Without them, Mush may not have survived.

And yes, we officially failed at fostering and Mush became a permanent part of our family. šŸ’•

Now, Mush is coming on this journey with me (not cycling, don’t worry—he’ll be chilling in the support car (he loves traveling) with my boyfriend).

That’s just one story out of countless others. BWCR is run entirely by volunteers, and they’ve helped so many cats like Mush every single day—often with urgent medical needs—find safety, health, and love. But all of that comes at a cost.

Right now, they’re in around Ā£5,000 of debt from helping so many kitties this year.

🐱 So I’m cycling across Europe to help raise funds and awareness. They need our support to keep doing their amazing work.

Every donation helps—no matter the size.

šŸ’™ I’m fundraising through JustGiving page, and there's a chance my workplace, British Gas, may offer matched funding of up to Ā£500—so your donations could go even further!

If you fancy following along (or just want some cute travel + cat content), I’ll be posting updates here:
