Story
On the 20th August 2020, my beautiful baby boy George Arthur Langstaff was born sleeping at 31 weeks. He was perfect in every single way and looked just like a newborn peacefully sleeping. The cruelness of the situation hung over us. Having said our goodbyes we left the hospital without our son.
The following few weeks saw me rely heavily on the remote support from SANDS, their online resources and support groups. Without their help I could not have got through the darkest, most painful and unimaginable time of my life. I needed the strength to have discussions regarding the arrangements for his post mortem, funerel and to register both his birth and death together. Discussions I never dreamt of having.
To this day I still look up to SANDS for their support especially during the days I find myself struggling the most.
Unfortunately we are not alone in experiencing such loss, many families go through a similar trauma all be in a different way. SANDS is a charity incredibly close to our hearts which exists to reduce the number of stillbirth and neonatal deaths. It supports and promotes research to better understand the causes of baby deaths.
Serving as a tribute for our shining star and to remember all the beautiful babies taken too soon.I have decided to embark on a sponsored skydive for SANDS with my two sisters (10th May). We hope to make my beautiful boy proud as much as we are of him.
£20 enables Sands to provide a memory box to parents so they can start making memories with their baby
£140 provides one full day of bereavement care training for healthcare professionals
We appreciate any donation that you are able to give, together we can make a difference.
