Walking the Ullswater Way for St Bedes Hospice

Walking the Ullswater Way · 4 May 2025
Sadly on the 5th September 2024 my lovely Dad passed away after a short battle with cancer.
He spent his final weeks being cared for in St Bede's Hospice, Gateshead. We are so grateful to the staff in the Palliative Care Unit who looked after my Dad with dignity and compassion, as well as supporting my Mam and I during the most horrendous time. We have no words to express how much their kindness meant to us.
It is saddening to know that Hospice care is only partially funded by the NHS and the incredible work St Bedes do relies heavily on donations.
On Sunday 4th May 2025, I will be walking 20 miles around Ullswater lake, following the Ullswater Way to raise funds for St Bedes Hospice and to say thank you in some way.
The Lake District means a lot to me and the love I have for the area started with family visits as a child with my Mam and Dad. The final stretch of the Ullswater Way has been completed by my Dad and I know, when I am tired, walking in my Dad's footsteps will get me through.
Any donation in my Dad's memory and honour will go towards improving the quality of life and reducing suffering to those who need it, while helping the Angels working in St Bedes to continue to deliver their exceptional care.
In loving memory of the most wonderful Dad, Husband and Grandad. Thank you x
