Running Royal Parks Half for SRUK

Royal Parks Half Marathon 2024 · 13 October 2024 ·
I have suffered with Raynaud’s phenomenon for over 15 years and SRUK is the only place to turn to for help and support.
Having Raynaud’s is about much more than simply feeling cold. It’s constantly trying to avoid getting cold to minimise the chances of an attack. It’s getting vegetables out the fridge half hour before you want to cook otherwise they’re too cold to hold as you chop,
and you can forget wearing flip flops or holding a drink with ice in it even in the middle of summer!
The Journey
I started running in 2022 with the simple aim of being able to run a 5k. Thanks to the support of a great running group I achieved that and several 10k races so now it is time to attempt the half marathon distance. Hopefully the beauty of the London parks will help me make it round the 13.1 miles and the weather will be kind so I don’t end up with numb feet and hands!
The Charity
SRUK aims to reach out to every single person who has a scleroderma or Raynaud's diagnosis, providing them with the information and support they need. The money raised will help them to invest in support and information as well as research for scleroderma and Raynaud's.
On the day, knowing that I am helping to change the lives of people with scleroderma and Raynaud's, will keep me going. I am raising money to invest in support and information as well as research, with the ultimate aim to find a cure!
