Running will never ever come natural to me, I HATE it.

For anyone that doesn’t know, I only started exercising five years ago before lockdown. Having PT sessions from my a great friend, when lockdown measures eased I started couch to 5k with my lovely neighbours. I had never run before - I used to walk or hide during cross country at school. Exercise until last year was not part of my daily or weekly routine and would be something I would actively avoid.

It’s been on and off for me the last 5 years with running and exercise with some very long breaks in between. It took me to the age of almost 45 to realise that regularly running and going to the gym not only made me feel physically better but mentally it was helping me.

I started CrossFit properly last May, going 3-5 times a week and then my neighbours and I completed a 10k race in the brutal storm the end of November to raise money for McMillan.

In five weeks I’m running London landmark half for the charity cosy coats, that provide children that need them coats to keep them warm, and when needed, socks and shoes too. I can’t imagine what life is like for those children and families especially in the cold winter we have had. Every donation makes a difference to a child’s life, giving them what most of us would deem a basic provision in a coat. No child should have to go to school or outside without a coat.

Ultimately, I’m not much of a runner, I am not the quickest by any stretch and I am pretty sure I’ll be stopping on the 7th April 😂 I will provide updates as we get ever closer to the day of the run. Really am grateful for any donations people can give.
