Story
On 4 March 2023, our beautiful boy, Freddie, died suddenly and unexpectedly from sepsis after contracting invasive Group A Strep. He was only 13 months old. He was a boy who loved his bubbles, music and books; our true adventurer. He was our light and joy, and losing him left a huge hole in the Slater and Middleton families.
No parent should ever lose a child. But, they should never have to cope with the grief alone, if they do. Stu and Imogen reached out to The Lullaby Trust a few weeks after Freddie died and the bereavement support team replied within 24 hours, something no other charity did. Their bereavement support is available to anyone who has lost a baby/very young child, not just those who have been affected by SIDS. Their team is utterly compassionate and wonderful, and have played a great part in helping Stu and Imogen on their journey through their grief.
The Lullaby Trust raises awareness of sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS), provides expert advice on safer sleep for babies and offers emotional support for bereaved families.
The charity offers a befriending service, where volunteers who have experienced the loss of a child are there to support and talk to newly bereaved parents. Imogen has also taken part in a pilot bereavement online support group, meeting 4 other fellow bereaved parents who have lost babies in a similar timeframe. The support from the Lullaby Trust has been truly incredible.
The Slater family will be walking, golfing and swimming their way to achieving 50k in February for Freddie. He would have had his 3rd birthday on 31January, so this is the perfect way to remember our special boy, between his birthday and anniversary.
We would be truly grateful for any donation given in support of this special charity.
All our love,
Imogen and Stu
