Story
My great, late father's legacy work continues.
Over the course of four Saturdays, from 1st to 22nd November 2025, I will be walking 80 miles across Birmingham's urban fringe to tell a powerful story of how nature friendly farming can help more than 1.1 million people, that live in the city, thrive.
Nature feeds from the surrounding countryside into Birmingham along the city's wildlife corridors.
One such wildlife corridor is the River Cole, which rises just outside Birmingham near Wythall and flows into Brum at Hasluck's Green. The river flows on past Trittiford Mill Park and Sarehole Mill to Stratford Road which is where I saw the the blue and orange flash of a Kingfisher when I was five and instantly fell in love with nature!
Nature continues to feed deeper into the city as the river passes through Sparkhill, Tyseley, Hay Mills, Little Bromwich, Stechford and Shard End, before it leaves Brum and passes back out into the countryside before joining the River Blythe, Tame and Trent.
Highfield Hall Community Club lies just 800 meters away from the River Cole in Hall Green. This amazing charity (Registration No. 1169586) organises and hosts an amazing range of activities and my own aunt's life was enhanced there when she attended cake-making classes.
This community centre enhances the lives of thousands of people that live in the area where I was born and the charity's passionate work includes connecting more people to nature for their happiness, health and wellbeing. I am proud to support their work with this fundraising initiative.
So, you can see how all that countryside that I will be walking through directly affects the lives of Brum's people, including those that benefit from Highfield Hall Community Club's wonderful activities that your kind donations will support. That's quite an epic story that few people appreciate, until its told.
I warmly invite you to consider giving to this cause and sharing my campaign with your family and friends and across social media. Together, we can create a better world for all.
I hope to reach my target by the time that I deliver a powerful presentation, that demonstrates how nature friendly farming can help our villages, towns and cities thrive. The event is at Fairfield Village Hall, Stourbridge Road, Fairfield, Worcestershire, B61 9LZ on the evening of Saturday 22nd November 2025. The doors and bar open at 6:30pm. Entry is free and I hope to see you there.
