Story
If you're not already aware, sometimes I run trails. On Friday night (10 April 2026), I'll be at the start line for the Sierra Nevada Ultra with a bag full of gels, gummies and rice krispies. 5000m of elevation over 100km (give or take) should keep me in the pain cave for good few hours (and hopefully able to cross the finish line in under my target time of 17 hours).
As a last minute thought, I thought I'd raise some money for Shelter from the Storm, a shelter based in North London. I've been volunteering with them for the last few years and they provide much needed accommodation, English lessons, job-search help, etc to those experiencing homelessness. They're funded entirely on donations and could always use any help to keep providing their services to the community.
It's all self-funded so there's no minimum fundraising target and all donations will go to the shelter - give as much or as little as you'd like (I'll be plodding on through the night regardless). If it's any incentive - if we get to £500, I may do a shoey post-race.
Even if you don't fancy donating - but if you do have a few spare hours a week, the shelter's always looking for volunteers and you can sign up here https://sfts.org.uk/ (Might see you on a shift!).
Also - bib no. 254 if anyone's keen to track.(https://ultrasierranevada.com/en/ultra/)
