Story

Excellent! You clicked & now you're reading, thank you for visiting my JustGiving page! ♥️

What am I doing? I'm running the 2027 Green Park Reading Half Marathon, on Sunday 21st March, in aid of KAPSA, the Kalkan Association for the Protection of Street Animals.

Why am I running? I've completed this half marathon twice before (pre-kids) & always promised myself I'd do it again, once I got my fitness back. Over 12 years & four kids later — it's time! 🤣 What started out as a personal goal has escalated to something much deeper. It's now my mission & I will not be deterred. My husband and I rescued two stray sisters 🐕🐕 we met on our family holiday earlier this year. After meeting them, I scrambled to find a way to bring them home. We waited five months for them; they've been home with us for nearly four weeks now & we are besotted.

This is why I'm running for the beautiful, innocent, yet terribly vulnerable street dogs of Kalkan, Türkiye. The run holds more weight & more purpose than anything I could do for myself. I'd give anything to help all stray animals globally. I know that's not possible, but supporting this charity is. I will run to raise money, I will run to raise awareness, I will run to help make any kind of impact I can, to make people realise how much animal cruelty and suffering truly goes on in the world. These precious souls don't have a voice, but I do! I'll let my feet do the talking and they intend to be heard!

Why KAPSA? This charity is beyond impressive. They dedicate their lives to help the street dogs & cats of Kalkan. The time, effort, blood, sweat & (hundreds of) tears that go into helping these animals would astonish you. They treat the wounded, neuter, rescue, foster, aid adoptions and more. Running a half marathon doesn't compare but if I can help in any way, shape or form, I'm there with bells, tassels (& anything else remotely eye-catching) on.

If you're able, please donate. If that's not possible, please share. People don't know what they don't know, let's let them know!

JustGiving is super simple, fast & secure. If you donate, they'll send your donation directly to the charity.

Paws for thought, while I practise pounding my feet up & down my local area. 🐾🏃🏽‍♀️

Thank you for reading, I really appreciate it.
