Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
So… I’ve signed up to get punched in the face. For charity.
I’m a 32-year-old who, for reasons I’m still processing, has decided to step into a boxing ring on October 18th at the Mountbatten Centre in Portsmouth — despite the minor detail that I’ve never boxed before. Not once.
(Unless you count Wii Sports… and even then, I lost to a Mii with a moustache.)
I’ve got 12 weeks to learn how not to die — or at least survive three rounds without turning into a human pancake.
Why?
Because I’m raising money for an amazing local charity: Friends Fighting Cancer. They’ve raised over £1 million for families across the South of England who are facing cancer — and they get support to people fast. No red tape. No middlemen. Just real help when it’s needed most.
My goal is to raise £2,000, and I’m hoping to smash that — with your help.
About Friends Fighting Cancer (FFC)
Friends Fighting Cancer (FFC) support local families who are going through one of the toughest times in their lives. As a local charity we are able to act fast and can provide much needed funds via the Grant Scheme, sometimes in less than 24 hours. We provide directly to families to try and alleviate the financial burden that coping with this disease can cause.
FFC also has a holiday home that is used to give families respite time away from the daily routine, providing moments and memories that are so special to those making them. The holiday home has been a great success and was fully booked this summer allowing FFC to continue to make a difference.
Finally, in the last 18 months we are now able offer a Grief Recovery service to provide 1-2-1 counselling for individuals who are grieving and need some help and guidance in coping with the effects of cancer. A new service which is already helping people come to terms with their situations.
Therefore, the money raised through the Fight for Cancer event will be distributed to local people who need it most. FFC also makes regular donations to other local and national Cancer charities working in our community.
Thank you for supporting Friends Fighting Cancer !!!
