Story
On Saturday 22nd August 2026 I will be taking part in the Ultra Challenge London Summer Walk to raise money for Bowel Cancer UK.
I am taking part in memory of my Grandad, Henry Machin. In September 2023 I lost my Grandad to bowel cancer, it was only a few weeks before his 80th birthday. As with any diagnosis it was a huge shock for myself and my family. Almost 3 years on and there continues to be a huge hole in all of our lives where he brought joy and laughter to everyone.
Doctors were able to diagnose my Grandad's cancer at an early stage and create a surgical treatment plan to remove it as soon as possible. However, the surgery didn't go to plan and we lost him a few days after due to some complications.
I'm fundraising in memory of my Grandad and to raise money for this amazing charity. My family and I are all extremely grateful for the medical team that looked after my Grandad at every stage of the process.
Bowel Cancer UK fund targeted research, provide expert information and support to patients and their families, educate the public and professionals about the disease and campaign for early diagnosis .
Please give as much or as little as you can to this amazing charity! Any donation will help to save lives!
