Story
This project is designed to provide vocational training opportunities, sustainable income and workplace experience to young people with disabilities in central Thailand: through the art of mushroom farming!
The establishment of an organic mushroom farm provides these opportunities by training individuals in the practice of cultivating, preparing and selling mushrooms. Over 6 months, young people will receive training in critical skills in mushroom cultivation and small business management. The project will also enhance self-esteem, communication skills, independence and workplace employability. The mushrooms will be sold at markets (fresh, dried and preserved) and donated to local families in the community as an important food source. The project delivers, deploys, and develops self-sufficiency from theory to practice at community and household level. The mushroom farm will serve as a community hub for promoting knowledge and demonstrating practical skills of mushroom cultivation. Workshops will be available for local families to learn farming methods and potentially establish their own organic mushroom farms as an income generation source.
