Story
The Fife Malibu Club team, Hugh, Alan and Lucy will be taking part in the Highland Cross 2026 Duathlon event, helping raise money for some truly wonderful Highland based charities, as listed below.
Each team member will cover the 50 mile course, running first 20 miles and then jumping on their bikes for the 30 mile cycle to the end. The course goes across a rugged stunning landscape, from Kintail to Glen Affric to Beauly.
Highland Cross is organised by volunteers and since 1983 has raised over £6.3m, distributed in full to deserving causes. Some 280 teams take part with around 800 people competing in total.
For 2026 the charities that will benefit from funds raised at the Highland Cross event are:
> Dundonnell Mountain Rescue Team SCIO
> Glenurquhart Care Project
> Isobel Fraser Home
> Skye and Lochalsh Young Carers
Fife Malibu Club team members:
> Hugh Mackay
> Alan Coulson
> Lucy Gilchrist
> John Budge (back up!)
Hugh, Alan and Lucy all met at Scotland's most exotic backyard triathlon (The Real Mackay, Portskerra) in 2025 and are very excited to be doing the Highland Cross event together as a team for 2026.
