Story

I am running the Asics 10K to raise vital funds for Endometriosis UK!

For those not already aware, this year along with a few other health bits, I received my formal diagnosis of Endometriosis and had my first big surgery at the start of February.

Along with the incredible care I received throughout my surgery and diagnosis, I also received so much support from the endometriosis community and friends who had also gone through it. I've been so unbelievably grateful and wanted to find a way I could give back. Now that I have some answers I feel like I can get back into training and look towards positive pain management I've decided to do the ASICS 10k in London on July 14th to try and raise money for Endometriosis UK. And yes, I do hate myself for committing to this already!

I've signed up to the gym and intend to film and share my training process whilst raising awareness about Endometriosis!

Endometriosis is the name given to the condition where cells similar to the ones in the lining of the womb (uterus) are found elsewhere in the body. It is a chronic and often debilitating condition that can cause painful periods, painful sex, pelvic pain outside of periods and more. It may also lead to infertility, fatigue and bowel and bladder problems. (We thought I had Crohn's!)

Endometriosis affects 1 in 10 people who are assigned female at birth, that's as many as diabetes and that's just who have been formally diagnosed. Very few people have even heard of it and the number of people living with Endometriosis is suspected to be much higher.

The impact can be felt for life and there is no cure.

It takes an average of 8 years to get a diagnosis of endometriosis in the UK, that's too long!

Your donations will mean that Endometriosis UK can continue to support those affected by Endometriosis through national support groups, information provision and their helpline as well as continue to campaign for change, fairer treatment and eventually a cure.
