Story
Hello everyone,
On Sunday 13 October I’ll be running my first ever half marathon around the Royal Parks of central London. I’ve been running for years, but this will be my first attempt at a distance which seems, quite honestly, terrifying!
I’m raising money for the International Chronic Myeloid Leukaemia Foundation. Established in 2009, iCMLf is a group of haematologists with a mission to improve outcomes for patients with CML globally. Their activities help to improve the lives of people living with CML, and their ultimate goal is to cure CML and prevent and eradicate the disease.
I have a personal connection, as my mum was diagnosed with CML in spring last year. She’s doing well (running 4k every day!), but that wouldn’t be possible without the development of drugs used to treat the disease and keep its worst symptoms at bay – and of course, the NHS, which makes these expensive drugs accessible.
So, if you have spare pounds or pennies, please consider donating.
