Royal Parks Half Marathon 2024 · 13 October 2024 ·

The aims of the International CML Foundation (iCMLf) are to foster and coordinate global clinical and research collaborations and to improve clinical practice and disease monitoring in CML. The iCMLf has three main priorities: Improve access to world-class CML education and best practice Increase the availability of CML testing for accurate diagnosis and monitoring. Through this we can increase access to the best possible therapies Provide an online, global communication network for physicians and scientists working with CML All our activities improve the lives of people with CML in the areas we reach. The ultimate vision of the iCMLf is that through the work to prevent and cure CML we can eradicate the disease.

Story

Hello everyone,

On Sunday 13 October I’ll be running my first ever half marathon around the Royal Parks of central London. I’ve been running for years, but this will be my first attempt at a distance which seems, quite honestly, terrifying!

I’m raising money for the International Chronic Myeloid Leukaemia Foundation. Established in 2009, iCMLf is a group of haematologists with a mission to improve outcomes for patients with CML globally. Their activities help to improve the lives of people living with CML, and their ultimate goal is to cure CML and prevent and eradicate the disease.

I have a personal connection, as my mum was diagnosed with CML in spring last year. She’s doing well (running 4k every day!), but that wouldn’t be possible without the development of drugs used to treat the disease and keep its worst symptoms at bay – and of course, the NHS, which makes these expensive drugs accessible.

So, if you have spare pounds or pennies, please consider donating.
