Story
My dad, Reverend Canon Simon Stevenette, long-serving Vicar of Christ Church and St Mary’s in Swindon, was admitted to hospital with a serious case of sepsis on the 5th of October. This is the second time my dad has suffered from Sepsis in the last 10 years. As a family we have chosen Sepsis Research FEAT — the UK’s only dedicated Sepsis research charity for us to hopefully raise some money for.
For over 25 years, my dad has faithfully served the Swindon community — as a Vicar, Chaplain to Swindon Town FC, school governor, member of the Rotary Club, and friend to many. He’s always been the one running to help others. Now, it’s our turn to stand with him.
Sepsis is a life-threatening reaction to infection and can escalate with frightening speed. My dad went from feeling unwell to fighting for his life within days. He’s now receiving hospital treatment and remains under close medical supervision.
I've started this fundraiser to support Sepsis Research FEAT — the UK’s only dedicated sepsis research charity (Registered Charity SC049399).
Sepsis takes around 50,000 lives in the UK every year — more than breast and bowel cancer combined.
We still don’t fully understand how sepsis develops or how best to treat it.
Sepsis Research FEAT works to:
Raise awareness so people can spot the signs early
Fund vital research to improve treatment
Save lives through better diagnosis and care
My dad wants to turn this personal battle into something bigger — raising awareness, supporting research, and helping others.
Thank you to any and every donation.
If you can, please donate and share this page.
Your support will help fund lifesaving research, spread awareness, and stand in solidarity with Simon as he fights to recover.
❤️ Thank you for your love, your prayers, and your generosity.
