Story
Starting on the evening of Friday 2nd May, Walsall FC season ticket holders myself and Stuart Russell, along with Jamie Burt and Jon Austin will be completing the self titled 'Final Day 50 Miler', walking through the night from the Bescot Stadium in Walsall to the Mornflake Stadium in Crewe, for Walsall's final EFL game of the season on Saturday 3rd May.
With us also being weekly Parkrunners, on route we'll be stopping off and completing The Wammy Parkrun in Newcastle-under-Lyme before continuing onto Crewe in time for the match. In total covering around 80km, all in aid of the Bone Cancer Research Trust.
This is a charity very close to our hearts as they mean so much to our friends Luke, Hannah, Harley and their son Jesse Small, who in March 2023 at not even 3 years old was diagnosed with Ewings Sarcoma, a very rare form of bone cancer.
Now more than 2 years on and Jesse continuing to defy the odds, this is an obvious choice for us to show our appreciation to this fantastic charity for their support to that amazing family, as well as many others!

The Bone Cancer Research Trust is dedicated to saving lives & improving outcomes for people affected by primary bone cancer. Despite being small, they fund more research projects exploring primary bone cancer than any other organisation. Other large UK cancer research charities do not prioritise bone cancer patients, in 2019 just 0.028% of their research spend went to bone cancer – not even close to 1%!
Last year alone, Bone Cancer Research Trust committed an incredible £807,824 to pioneering bone cancer research - to save lives!
