Story
Right then. Apparently scaling mountains in broad daylight wasn't enough of a challenge, so I've decided to do it overnight. For the second time.
Last year I took on Snowdon at Night, and somewhere between the wind, the darkness and the summit, I thought "yeah, I'll do that again." So naturally, I've signed up for the Ben Nevis Night Challenge, hauling myself up the UK's highest peak under the stars (hopefully not hammering it down with rain, armed with a head torch, questionable snacks and an unreasonable amount of optimism.
And it's not like I'm short of mountain experience. Over the years I've dragged myself up some of Britain's finest lumps of rock, including Scafell Pike, Helvellyn, and the rather spectacular Buachaille Etive Beag in the Scottish Highlands.
But every blister, every aching knee and every "why am I doing this" moment at 2am is worth it, because the money raised goes to Dogs Trust, the UK's largest dog welfare charity. Dogs Trust cares for thousands of abandoned and stray dogs every year, rehoming them with loving families and never putting a healthy dog down. They receive zero government funding, so every single pound donated makes a real, direct difference to dogs that really need it.
So whether you're a dog lover, a fellow masochist who enjoys a good hill, or you just want to watch me suffer from a safe distance - please consider sponsoring me. No amount is too small, and I promise the dogs will be far more grateful than I will be at mile 6.
Every step I take up that mountain is a step towards a dog finding its forever home. 🐾
