Fine & Country Everest Base Camp Trek, 19 March 2024
We raise awareness and funds to combat the causes of homelessness

Story

On 19th March 2024, Bert Rogers and Lee Armstrong from Fine & Country Midlands will be travelling to Nepal and trekking for 12 days to Mount Everest Base Camp, one of the world’s highest civilisations, for the Fine & Country Foundation. 100% of your donation will be going to help combat homelessness in the United Kingdom.

We aim to raise £7,000 with your kind support and donations – and from Everest Base Camp we aim to fly the Fine & Country Foundation flag along with the names or logos of donating companies. For a £300 donation we will print your name on our flag, and we will distribute the photo to you accordingly.

Of course, all donations of support are welcomed, alongside these corporate donations.

The trip starts with a rollercoaster ride from Kathmandu to Lukla airport, dubbed "the worlds most dangerous airport". It's probably the highest, shortest, steepest runway in the world.

Following this, there’s 71 miles of trekking ahead, ascending to a height of 5,644m, contending with below freezing conditions, lower oxygen levels, and altitude sickness.

Last year, the Government estimated around 2,414 people sleep on the street on any one night across England, a rise of 36% over three years. Often the reasons for homelessness are misunderstood, with many blaming the individuals for poor life decisions and carelessness. The reality is; people become homeless for a whole range of complex and overlapping reasons that cannot be avoided, such as family breakdowns, mental or physical health problems or debts. Solving homelessness does not only involve putting a roof over people’s heads, it is also trying to tackle the root of the problem and asking the question; why did they became homeless in the first place?

The Fine & Country Foundation is dedicated to bringing together all Fine & Country agents in over 300 locations worldwide to raise awareness of the causes of homelessness whilst supporting homeless charities.
