Story
From the 30th of March to the 3rd of April, 5 students from Stewart’s Melville College will walk from north to south of the Isle of Skye. Over 5 days, the team will cover 96km and 2,700m of ascent over extremely challenging terrain. The gruelling challenge starts at Rubha Hunnish, then covers the Trotternish ridge, Glen Sligachan and the famous ‘Bad Step’, before finishing at Elgol and as an additional extra an ascent of the Munro Blà Bheinn (depending on how the legs are!)
All donations will go towards buying and distributing comfort kits, which are 48-hour aid boxes designed to help families with children rushed to hospital in an emergency, who are likely without basic items like a phone charger, blankets and toiletries. Comfort kits have supported hundreds of families through extremely tough times, having been designed by the Bennett family to provide the essentials they were missing when their son Finlay was admitted to Glasgow's Yorkhill Children's Hospital in July 2014. The charity supports both Edinburgh and Glasgow's children's hospitals, along with 3 others.
Any donation really helps the charity and the families we support.
One of our comfort kits costs £30, a portable power bank charger costs £10, an insulated water bottle costs £8, and one of our Finlay bears costs £5. This means the total cost of aiding one family is around £53.
Thank you for your support for the charity and the team tackling this challenge.
