Story
Jolly Josh is a registered charity based in Rochdale which was founded by devoted mum Carole Kelly following the passing of her son Joshua at just 15 months old.
Following Joshua’s diagnosis at four months old, Carole and her family faced the realities of caring for a child with disabilities. It is Caroles experiences of a lack of local services for families of children with complex needs and physical disabilities, that inspired her to establish Jolly Josh.
Opened in April 2022, The Jolly Josh Centre has been designed to provide a safe, accessible and inclusive flexible space, offering a variety of group sessions for children and young people aged 0-19, living with complex medical and physical needs, along with their parents, carers and siblings.
The Centre is home to a purpose-built Hydrotherapy Pool. Offering sessions hosted by an experienced Hydro Lead, as well as life-guarded Family Splash and Baby Splash opportunities for families who visit the centre.
Everything The Jolly Josh Centre does is aimed at providing children and young people living with complex medical needs and physical disabilities, along with their families and carers, an inclusive and safe environment to meet, bringing them out of isolation and into a welcoming place where they can connect with and support each other.
The money raised will be contributing to the requirements of the centre and its facilities, helping families and carers living with children with complex needs.
