St George's Abseil · 14 March 2025

Whether you're abseiling or sponsoring someone taking part for us, Your support means we can fund more projects that make a real difference - from enhancing patient care to researching new treatments.

Story

On Friday, 14th March, 12 friends of, parents and teachers from Finton House School will brave a 13-storey abseil down the Pelican Hotel in support of St George’s Hospital Charity’s Time For A Change Children’s Appeal.

As a proud Time For A Change Champion, Finton House School has played a key role in helping us raise £2.5 million towards our £5 million goal, and we are immensely grateful for their support. With work set to begin this summer, every donation, big or small, will make a lasting impact.

Why are we supporting St George's Hospital Charity Time For A Change Appeal?

Every year, over 130,000 children and paediatric patients are treated at St George’s Hospital, and these children account for one in five of all admissions to the hospital. St George’s Hospital is home to the only Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) and Paediatric Major Trauma Centre in southwest London.

When faced with the most serious illnesses and trauma, parents and families from across London, Surrey, Sussex and beyond, turn to St George’s to make their child well again. Our outstanding clinical care is delivered by committed and compassionate teams. St George’s Hospital Charity launched the Time for a Change children’s appeal to raise £5m by 2025 so the children’s facilities can start its transformation to match the Hospital’s world-class care and to meet the ever-growing demand for its services.

Appeal Progress Update September 2024

Thanks to all your help so far, work has already begun. The Charity has been working closely with the Hospital, families, clinicians and our architects to collaboratively design new warm, welcoming spaces. Some of the work is so urgent, that we will start building works in Summer 2025 to begin transforming the first children's ward despite not having all the funds secured.
