Fiona, Eva and Ben Strathmore RFC is raising money for Student Minds

Student Minds empowers students to build their own mental health toolkit. We also challenge the higher education sector, health sector, and government to make student mental health a priority. Together, we’re improving university communities so that no student is held back by their mental health.

Story

In August we are taking on a huge mental and physical challenge - climbing Mount Kilimanjaro, the world tallest free standing mountain. We are doing this in aid of Student Minds, the UK's leading student mental health charity.

BEN - Having played rugby for Strathie since the age of 7, Ben is a well known figure around Inchmacoble with aspirations of becoming a regular name on the team sheet for Ormi’s army, he spends most of his time working as an apprentice electrician in the local area when he’s not on the rugby pitch.

FIONA - Having worked at Angus Physiotherapy since 2021, Fiona regularly supports the men’s and ladies players on and off the pitch with various injuries. Fiona has taken on the role as Challenge Leader to recruit, lead and support a group of individuals taking on this once in a lifetime opportunity. With 1 in 3 students reporting struggles with their mental health, most people have either faced their own challenges or know someone who has. To complete this challenge while supporting an amazing charity means a lot to me.

Student Minds goal is to transform the state of student mental health so that all in higher education can thrive. They support students to develop the knowledge, confidence and skills to look after their own mental health, support their peers and create change. They also work collaboratively with institutions, students’ unions and other organisations involved in higher education, supporting them to take a whole-university approach to mental health.
