Story
We are running the Edinburgh Marathon in memory of Jonathans mum Moira, a strong, intelligent woman who served as a councillor and dedicated much of her life to supporting her community. Moira was also dedicated to her husband Mike and 3 children and 6 grandchildren.
Alzheimer’s took so much from her — her memories, her independence, and eventually her life. Watching someone so capable, articulate and committed to others slowly change because of this disease was heartbreaking for the family.
We’re fundraising for Alzheimer’s Research UK to support vital research into better treatments and, one day, a cure. Every donation helps turn one families loss- into something that could protect other families in the future.
Thank you for helping us honour her legacy.
As most of you know - I have NEVER run a marathon or indeed a half marathon before - only a few 10ks. Sara Cox inspired me to run a marathon after her Children in Need challenge last year. This is far beyond my comfort zone- but I’ve committed to a full training plan and believe I can achieve this.
Jonathan has run many 10ks and half marathons but only one full marathon in Chester in 2016. He has also committed to a full training plan to allow him to achieve his medal in May.
