Story

Jamie felt free and at his happiest out at sea. He often found life on land really tough. Tragically, he died in July 2024, aged 24. Like so many families across the country, we are learning to live with such a devastating loss.
My dear friend Karen and I are running the Lundy Island Race in his memory while raising money for the Invictus Trust, a small but amazing Cornish charity.
Lundy Island is a place Jamie loved and he spent many happy hours fishing for lobster in its waters. Karen and I are looking forward to taking him back there and running with him in our hearts.

The Invictus Trust touched us as a family in the dark days after Jamie’s death by putting his name on the boat their crew were rowing across the Atlantic. To know that he was travelling the ocean with them, on a journey he would have loved in life, brought us such comfort. Running the Lundy Race for the charity is our way of saying thank you but also our small contribution to this charity’s work of bringing hope to young people and families living with mental health struggles.

This run is for you Jamie and for the wonderful Invictus Trust. We hope that in contributing in some small way to their work we can do some good and perhaps reach a young person who would otherwise be lost.
Please spare what you can to support the ongoing work of the Invictus Trust.
Fiona and Karen
