Story
Hello Folks
Over the years I have learnt to run and you have all been very kind and supported the causes I have run for.
I am doing it again and have been so fortunate to have been given a place in 2026 London Marathon.
This will be my second time in this race. The first was running for the St Wilfreds Hospice, who cared for my parents when they died during the pandemic.
Inspired by the wonderful work of palliative care I found myself volunteering at Sage House Dementia Support Hub near Chichester and through this wonderful place we formed 'The ReFramed Project' which links Theatre Spaces with people living with dementia and their care support systems.
It feels like everyone I meet is affected by dementia in some form. My own family is facing the challenge of living well with a diagnosis and how we navigate that together. The stats tell us that 1 in 2 of us will be directly affected by dementia. Dementia is now the leading cause of death in the UK.
Sage House Dementia Support provides an amazing service. Based in care, empathy, knowledge and experience, Sage House extends their reach beyond their doors into the community and throughout the family of those affected by Dementia.
I can't say enough good things about them and WE NEED THEM. We need more places like them. While we wait for the scientists to find solutions right now we need space, people, facilities and love to meet those affected NOW.
And, guess what, the kind of care and facilities that Sage House give...its CHEAPER than relying on our wonderful but over-stretched NHS.
So empathetically and economically ...it makes sense to fund these charities.
I will do the running and I welcome any, ANY loose change. Honestly, it doesn't have to be much.
thank you so much
