Fundraiser for JR Whippet Rescue in memory of Nora Thomson

Fiona Finch is raising money for JR Whippet Rescue
In memory of Nora Clason THOMSON (Berwicklaw Whippets)
The Charity’s main purpose is to alleviate the suffering and distress caused to dogs, and in particular, the breed known as whippets, as a result of a significant change in their owner’s circumstances, such as illness or death, or which have been ill-treated, abandoned or neglected.

Story

Nora Thomson (Berwicklaw Whippets), loving wife of Derek, mother, grandmother and friend to many, passed away on 11th December 2025 following a long battle with breast cancer.

Nora and I became friends in 2012 and we shared a passion for dog showing and the Whippet breed. Although she never did the UK championship show circuit, Nora was a stalwart of the Scottish show scene and was well known more widely in the Whippet community. Her proudest moments in the ring were when her first show dog, Rag and her homebred boy, Cole, were placed in their classes at Crufts. She also owned Whippets from the Cornstalk, Khabaray and Lorbri show kennels.

Nora had a direct cremation and one of her final wishes was for her friends to contribute to a fundraiser in her name for the benefit of J R Whippet Rescue. Derek doesn’t do much online so he has asked me to set this up on his behalf. All contributions however small will be gratefully received by the charity and I know, hugely appreciated by Nora.

Thank you.

Fiona Finch
