Story
Thank you for visiting our fundraising page. I am so excited to be taking on the TCS Sydney Marathon 2026 for Breakthrough T1D, and to be running with my daughter Clare. It will be Clare's first marathon.
Clare was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes in 2007 at just nine years old. Since then she has continually amazed us with the way she has faced the challenges of living with the condition. I couldn't be more proud of her as she takes on this challenge.
I wasn't a runner until I decided to run the London Marathon for Breakthrough T1D (formerly JDRF) in 2012, at the age of 44. What started as a personal challenge became a passion, and since then I have completed 10 marathons, but this one will be especially meaningful as it will be my first marathon alongside Clare.
I've had the privilege of running with her during her first 10K and then her first half marathon in Manchester, and now I'm incredibly proud to be lining up with her in Sydney on Sunday August 30th. I'll do my best to keep up with her - at least until she inevitably speeds off into the distance and leaves me behind.
We're running not only to test ourselves, but also to raise awareness and support for everyone affected by Type 1 Diabetes. Every donation helps fund vital research, improve treatments, and bring us closer to a world where Type 1 Diabetes no longer impacts the lives of so many children, families and adults.
Please donate whatever you can to help me reach my target.
