Story
Hi, I’m proud & honoured to be Lady Captain of Ashton & Lea Golf Club this year. My chosen charity is St. Catherine’s Hospice which is very close to my family’s heart. I promised my Mum, Julia McHarrie, that if I ever became Lady Captain I would choose it as my charity. Unfortunately Mum isn’t around to witness this as she passed away in 2012 & spent the last 2 weeks of her life in the hospice.
My ‘piece de resistance’ for the year will be a tandem skydive - I can’t ever remember another Lady Captain throwing themselves out of a plane for charity! My good friend & fellow golfer Elena Wren has also agreed to jump with me (not together) - we must be mad!
St Catherine's provides palliative and end-of-life care and support for the people of Central Lancashire, through our specialised services at the hospice and in people’s own homes. We're here to help people facing life-shortening conditions like cancer, motor neurone disease and heart failure to enjoy the best possible quality of life to the end of life. It costs more than £5m to run our charity every single year. We rely on the amazing efforts and wonderful generosity of supporters like you to help us raise the funds we need. Thank you!
