Story

Welcome to my fundraising page for the London Marathon 2026, I am raising money for North London Hospice.

I've chosen to raise money for the NLH, as they helped me and my brothers to care for my lovely Mum when she was in the last month of her life with Bowel cancer in 2024. The palliative care team made an impossible time feel slightly less scary, especially given we had lost Dad 3 years before and Sean, Conor and I definitely felt out of our depth. We were able to devise a care plan that allowed Mum to feel well enough to make some last minute important trips such as to the beach with the wider family, and to little Alfie's baby shower who she sadly never got to meet.

Mum and Dad were always really encouraging of me when I first started running. I, like so many others, did couch to 5k in lockdown and stuck with it on and off ever since. I did my first running race whilst Mum was in hospital, and I remember bringing my medal to the hospital that evening and her being really proud.

I have always wanted to run the London Marathon and it is an honour to so in memory of my wonderful parents who we miss so much, and to raise money for a charity that does such important work in the community. I never really understood the breadth of support that a hospice provides, I thought it was just a place where people went at the very end of their life, but palliative care is so much more than that. My Mum wanted to be at home until the end, and we wanted that too, and the NLH provided support to allow that to happen.

I have an ambitious fundraising target of £2.5k and would appreciate any donations you could spare. I will be doing a number of activities between now and the marathon such as:

- Half marathon in November

- Dry January

- Run clubs

- Quiz nights, Raffles

- And more!

I am running the marathon with my best friend Tyla who has been such a support to me the last few years and will be keeping me on track with the long runs closer to the time :)

More about the North London Hospice :)

Serving the London Boroughs of Barnet, Enfield and Haringey, North London Hospice cares for over 3,500 patients and their families across our services every year, in their own homes and at the in-patient unit at Woodside Park, Finchley.

They also offer a day service, bereavement counselling and family support, all provided in a multi-faith environment. These services are given free of charge to all those in need and the hospice relies on donations to raise most of the £16 million that is needed to keep it running every year.

Their specialist services are in great demand and there is always a need for more. Their vision is that everyone in our diverse community who is affected by a potentially life limiting illness will have equal access to the services and support they need to optimise their quality of life.
