Brain Tumour Research is the leading voice of the brain tumour community and focused on finding a cure for all types of brain tumours. We are campaigning to increase the national investment in research to at least £45 million a year and funding sustainable Centres of Excellence across the UK.

Story

In April 2027, I'll be running the London Marathon for Brain Tumour Research.

My dad was diagnosed with a brain tumour in October 2021 and underwent surgery the following month. In November, we received the devastating news that it was a glioblastoma, the most aggressive form of brain cancer. Because of COVID restrictions, my mum couldn't be with him when he was given the diagnosis, and the rest of us heard the news over the phone.

Watching someone you love go through a glioblastoma diagnosis is heartbreaking. In just a matter of months, our lives changed completely. We lost my dad in May 2022, only five weeks after my wedding.

Tragically, this wasn't the first time our family had faced this disease. We had already lost my uncle to the same type of brain tumour.

Running the London Marathon is my way of honouring my dad and uncle, while helping to fund the vital research that could give other families more time, more treatment options and more hope than we had.

I'm aiming to raise £4,000 for Brain Tumour Research to help improve outcomes for those diagnosed with brain tumours and to support the search for better treatments.

Thank you for taking the time to read my story and for any support you can give.
