Sleep Out 2024 · 8 November 2024 ·

The St Albans Sleepout aims to raise awareness of homelessness in Hertfordshire, and to come together as a community for the community.

Story

Me, my niece Mia and my 12 year old Sid, are sleeping out for the night to hopefully raise money and awareness for a fantastic charity, Open Door.

On Friday 8th November 2024, I will be participating in the St Albans Sleepout raising vital funds for Open Door. Participants will spend an evening outside under the stars, raising funds for Open Door along with Herts Young Homeless, The Living Room, Centre 33 and Emmaus.

Why Open Door need our support.

The Winter Beds Project provides people who would otherwise be rough sleeping with self-contained sleeper cabins. Each cabin provides secure accommodation with heating, electricity and en-suite facilities. Guests of the project are supported to find secure accommodation to move on to by the rough sleeper outreach team. The project runs from December through to the beginning of April and can accommodate 4 people each night on top of the 12 bed spaces at the Night Shelter which is open 365 days per year. Last year, the Winter Beds project cost £38,000.

So please show your support, I'm sleeping under the stars for one night,
