Story
The L38 Team are running the 5k inflatable course on June 14th to raise money for resources/toys/activities to go in our brand new playroom once it has been complete! These resources will be absolutely essential in promoting the happiness, recovery and resilience of all our children on the ward.
Our story:
Ward L38 cares for children with complex respiratory and medical needs, often resulting in hospital stays that are much longer than the average for an acute admission. Unfortunately, the current layout of the ward falls short of providing the basic facilities essential for a children’s ward, leaving us unable to create the safe, calming, and stress-free environment these children deserve.
We believe that every child should have access to a safe and welcoming space where they can play, explore, and simply be children, away from the confines of their bedside. Providing this space not only offers a much-needed break from the clinical setting but also plays a vital role in their overall health and wellbeing.
Encouraging children to move away from their bedside promotes recovery, fosters independence, and gives long-term patients—some of whom spend months in the hospital—the chance to experience different environments, spark their imagination, and create moments of joy during an otherwise challenging time. Our goal is to provide this safe haven for play and healing, ensuring every child feels cared for, supported, and valued.
Thank you for your support
