Story
Fitzroy Lodge is one of the oldest amateur boxing clubs in the world, having been founded in 1908. It has been in its current location under the railway arches in Lambeth since 1946 and has produced many world champions over the years, the most recent of which being David Haye.
In the past the club has taken its boxers on various overseas trips to LA, Munich, New York and Valencia to name a few. But over the last decade with the downturn of the economy, the club funds have had to be allocated elsewhere to keep the gym up and running.
Therefore they have not been on a trip abroad since 2009 but this year, in June, the club (alongside sister club, Carney's Community) want to rekindle this tradition and give their current crop of elite boxers a chance to head to New York to train in their world famous boxing gyms, as well as experiencing everything the city has to offer.
Mark (Head Coach and former Fitzroy Lodge boxer) says that: "Travelling abroad to box was one of the best things about being part of the club. It gave me the chance to see parts of the world that otherwise I would not have the opportunity to do so."
So please consider donating to provide this year's boxers with the same opportunity and to experience an unforgettable trip.
Thank you very much
