We’re Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM), and we’re a suicide prevention charity. We host a helpline for people affected by suicide, as well as vital online resources for anyone who needs them.

Story

Last year myself and some close friends Callum and Dean came up with the idea of organising a charity football match in aid of Campaign Against Living Miserbaly (CALM). After some hard work we set up FKFC, a team made up of friends from school.

The three of us felt having more people raise not just funds but also awareness surrounding male mental health was important, football can be an escape for many people from issues in their personal life and gives them a social group to bond in. CALM is a great movement which we all agreed would be a good campaign to raise funds for.

In preparation for the big day last year we played four friendly matches against teams from around the local area. This firstly helped get some much needed fitness but most importantly it brought the group closer together.

The charity match was great success. We ran out 5-0 victors over the Scottish YouTube Team (SYT) scoring some great goals and creating some memorable moments. But the real winner was CALM as we raised nearly £3,700!

This year we’re looking forward to facing Tullibody St Serfs on Saturday, the 29th of June, taking place at Ochilview Park, with kick off at 12:45pm. St Serfs who were formed last year and play in the Stirling & District league organised a charity match of their own last summer, raising money for Scottish Action for Mental Health (SAMH). They are sure to be a great opponent!

We’re also pleased that Stenhousemuir are allowing spectators, meaning that anyone can come down to the game and help support the cause. We're hoping to see as many people as possible come to the game and have a good day out for a positive movement. There's also the option to donate using one of our donation buckets on the day.

Venue - Ochilview Park, Stenhousemuir, FK5 4QL

Date - 29/06/2024

Kick Off - 12:45PM

Campaign Against Living Miserably is leading a movement against suicide. Every week 125 people in the UK take their own lives. And 75% of all UK suicides are male. CALM exists to change this by offering life saving services, provoking conversation and bringing people together to reject living miserably.

From advice on our site, through to free, confidential chats with our helpline staff, online or on the phone, we’re here for whoever needs us, every day. No matter what.

£8 is enough to fund one potentially life-saving call.
