Story
I wanted to share something very personal with you and ask for your support.
In the coming weeks, I’ll be shaving my head to raise funds and awareness for Multiple Sclerosis (MS), a disease that is incredibly close to home for me and for a laugh I will wax my legs too!
My dad was diagnosed with MS back in 1987 and has been battling this disease for nearly 40 years. In that time, he has defied the odds time and time again. Anyone who knows him will know his strength, resilience, and determination and qualities he draws on every single day while continuing to live with MS. He continued his radio career for many years after diagnosis . Growing up, I remember going to my dad’s gigs and hearing people make comments about him, assuming he was drunk. At that time, MS wasn’t widely understood, and sadly, even today it still feels like there is so much we don’t know. This is especially striking given that Scotland has one of the highest rates of MS per population in the world.
This is why I’ve decided to do something that’s well outside my comfort zone. People who know me know I spend a lot of time on my hair!
My goal isn’t just to raise money, but also to help widen awareness and understanding of MS, and the very real impact it has on individuals and families.
All funds raised will be shared equally between Revive MS Support and the MS Society. These charities do incredible work supporting people living with MS; from local therapy, wellbeing services, and community support that genuinely improve quality of life, to national research, campaigning, and advocacy to change lives for the better.
If you’re able to donate no matter how big or small and it would mean more than I can put into words.
Even sharing this message would help make a difference.
