Story

At 2 weeks old, after four trips to A&E, our precious daughter Clementine was diagnosed with having a very rare congenital heart defect called TAPVD.

That evening we were transferred by ambulance to the Evelina London Children's Hospital. From the moment we arrived we knew that Clemmie was in the very best care possible and that we, as her parents, would be supported and looked after too.

At 5 weeks old Clemmie had lifesaving open heart surgery. Thanks to her incredible surgeon and the extensive medical team caring for her, everything went to plan. We have been amazed by her recovery and in awe of her strength. We are so lucky that Clemmie’s heart condition was found, could be fixed and there is a low chance of needing further intervention. She will continue to have check-ups and scans throughout her life and until she’s 16 these will all be at the Evelina.

The care that Clemmie received was truly outstanding. The empathy and compassion that we, as a family, received throughout an extremely hard time was phenomenal. We will forever be grateful to each and every member of staff we encountered during our time in the Evelina.

We are running this race together because this is a very tiny way we feel we can repay the hospital for saving Clemmie’s life and looking after us all so well. Every penny will support the amazing care that the Evelina gives to children like Clemmie.

This will be quite a feat for us, Fleur being 9 months post c-section and John being past his best!

The Evelina London Children's Hospital helps over 103,000 children and young people every year, delivering life-changing care with compassion, innovation and dedication. Here is what your donation could help provide:

£15 could buy VR Tech to help distract children during tricky medical procedures.

£25 could fund sensory play equipment to help children feel at ease.

£50 could help fund cutting edge research that leads to better care for children.

Thank you so much reading our page, we are so grateful for all the support and any sponsorship is hugely appreciated. All donations are very kindly going to be matched pound for pound so we hope to raise as much as possible for a charity so close to our hearts.
