Story
St John's Hospice provides palliative care for the community of North Lancashire, South Lakes and parts of North Yorkshire.
Services include an inpatient ward for end-of-life care as well as pain and symptom management, a Hospice at Home service for people who choose to spend their last time at home, Clinical Nurse Specialists who support people with planning and pain & symptom management, and a Respite Service for carers of loved ones who need rest, day or night. St John's also offers pre and post bereavement support plus other services you may not associate with a Hospice such as Social Workers and Therapists.
All that care, compassion and support is offered free of charge to patients, their families and carers. To deliver such an important service, however, is not cost free - with around a quarter of funding received from the government and the remaining amount raised by the local community. This is an important pillar of the North West community which has touched countless lives over the years - and continues to be a leading light for many in difficult times.
The FlexMR Lune Estuary Litter Pick
In 2025, our team took on the Morecambe Cross Bay walk, a historic trail that has connected this part of Northwest England for centuries. This year, we're cleaning it! On June 23, we'll re-tread the 5 mile Lune Estuary footpath from Lancaster to Glasson Dock with trash grabbers and bags - so everyone can continue to enjoy this beautiful and peaceful trail.
