Story
This July I have set myself the challenge of cycling from Land's End to John O'Groats in 9 days, averaging over 100 miles a day. I'm cycling to raise money for the Tom Furey Memorial Trust; as well as a personal challenge and memorial ride.
Tom had a passion for the mountains, he spent his life there. He also devoted his life to sharing his hard earned knowledge with others, to enable them to have great experiences in the environment he loved so much. Unfortunately we lost Tom to the mountains in June 2022, but the Tom Furey Memorial Trust was set up in his name to continue the great work he was so keen to do. Your donations will support and enable those who otherwise wouldn't be able to enjoy the mountains.
I am also dedicating this ride to Meg who we sadly lost in March of this year. Meg was a great lover of the outdoors, especially mountain biking. I had the pleasure of riding with Meg on several occasions and I’ve never seen her happier than when she was on the trails. Unfortunately in 2024 she caught Covid, which developed into pneumonia and left permanent scarring on her lungs, meaning she could no longer do the sports she loved. Many people have asked why I am doing this challenge and my answer is simple - to show myself I can. Meg was a great friend of Tom's and I know that she would want me to dedicate your support for me to his legacy.
