Story
Just over a decade ago, my godfather, Russell, was diagnosed with Myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS) - bone marrow failure.
Following two failed transplants, a stem cell donation from Luke, his then-15-year-old son, finally worked and saved his life.
Since his recovery, Russell has gone on to run several marathons and is now one of the trustees for MDS UK. The charity offers support and information to patients and families affected by MDS and chronic myelomonocytic leukemia (CMML) while campaigning to make treatments available and to increase quality of life for MDS and CMML patients.
Although I'm not planning a marathon myself (yet), for my birthday this year, I'll be running the Cabbage Patch 10 - the 10 being miles, not the kilometres I'd hoped for!
Any donations would mean so much, and go towards the important work of MDS UK.
