15 year old Flo is part of a 6 person junior relay team swimming the English Channel to France this year.

Entirely new to long distance and open water swimming, Flo signed up to the Mencap Marvels challenge in September, and since then has embarked on a gruelling and tough training program. She swims at least 4 times a week and has built up her endurance to less warm water by swimming outdoors throughout the winter.

In January she completed her 2 hour continuous qualifying swim in sub 15.5 degrees. Since then she has voluntarily completed 2 further qualifying swims as well as numerous other long distance swims in uncomfortable temperatures. She has also spent hours focusing on improving her speed and technique.

Flo is the only girl in her squad and we are in awe of her sheer grit and determination. We are immensely proud of what she has achieved in the last few months and can't wait to cheer her on as she completes this incredible challenge.
