Story
20th of September 2024 my dad passed away after years of battling a Glioblastoma tumour. This is a fast growing, terminal, cancerous brain tumour. After diagnosis he had multiple rounds of chemotherapy, radiotherapy and steroids as well as brain surgery to lengthen his life expectancy. Before diagnosis he was a well respected member of the agricultural community, played rugby, was a prominent member of round table who raised money for the local community, enjoyed cycling and hiking and most importantly an amazing farther to me and my two sisters. He was the image of health and diagnosis shouldn’t come with such devastation, a cure cannot wait for those in the same position as my dad was put in. This is why I’m choosing to race in honour of him and fundraise for the amazing work The Brain Tumour Charity do, not only in supporting those affected by Brian tumours but finding a diagnosis so more lives aren’t lost.
